There is a great pictures of one of our favorite Architect, stone lover, Luytens. What ever he designed, balance and harmony were included ! He loved the long goings and short rise, so to have as sort of tranquil ascent. Stone stair or staircase are sometimes not thought of enough carefully. From the design of its competitor the not so well finish wet cast product, the standard approach to staircase is the worth thinks that can happen to a stairwell. Even worth when there are spiral or elliptical ! We have in the past had to design some unusual treads as the space designed for the stone steps were to steep. Architect, designer, remember to let your building breeze through its stairwell !
