They build in stone in the US too, you know ….

We always, in Europe,  forget to look the work in the US, we think their architecture is or too  trashy or to classical, but recently some great project using natural stone instead of wet cast concrete  are being unveiled http://www.stone-ideas.com/2014/09/14/tucker-awards-natural-stone-facade-touch-kente-cloth/

This particular project is very nicely conceived with is use of big ashlar like stone and its facade with its recessed panel.Something to visit very soon !
