Another way to look at staircase ! from what is left behind.

It is a bit like forensic science, we should called it architectural forensic. There is so much to learn from our forefathers. On this simple facade remain some interesting print of the pockets left by the  original stone staircase. Surely done using portland the staircase must have been looking nice and neat. So much has been most after the war on the use of natural limestone, from clipsham stone to ancaster and cadeby stone. We should really do our best to reintroduce this sustainable structure in modern building.
