Some steps, a lot of them …

This year we will be completing another 6 flights stone cantilever staircase for a residential scheme in Central London.

This staircase as an interesting ellips0ide spiral stairwell, and load bearing landing. But the exotic twist is the stone coming from Tunisia ! From few hours east from Tunis, the Thala beige as some incredible feature and we are impatient to received it in the next couple of month.

The scheme by Smallwood architect is a great design with its traditional cantilevered stone steps. Very much like in the Tulip staircase using portland stone. The simple system is very much like the one use as per the pictures, 100 mm deep into a wall. So simple, so sustainable so stone ….
